Engraved Leather Keychain with Birthstone

Details & care

Keys are the one thing you touch every day without thinking about it. This keychain gives that small moment something to say — one line of engraving on waxed leather, with an optional birthstone for a month you want to keep close. The crazy horse leather starts out matte and slowly picks up a soft sheen where your thumb lands, so after a few months it looks like it has been with you for years instead of weeks. Go brown or black, and choose a 304 stainless steel ring if you want hardware that shrugs off heavy use, or an alloy ring for a lighter feel. It hangs just as well from a backpack zipper or the inner loop of a tote as it does from a set of car keys.

Details to make it yours

• One line of engraving — a name, a date, or a short word
• Optional birthstone for any of the twelve months
• Waxed crazy horse leather that darkens and softens with handling
• Brown or black leather with a steel or alloy key ring
• Palm-sized and light enough to forget it's on your keys
• Arrives ready to hand over as a gift

How to personalize

Pick your leather color and hardware first — brown or black, steel or alloy ring. Type the engraving exactly the way you want it, capitals and spacing included, and keep it short enough to stay readable at a glance. Add a birthstone month if you'd like one, then read the text over one more time before checkout.

Care for your keepsake

Don't soak it or run it through the wash. If it gets wet, wipe it with a dry cloth and let it air dry away from direct heat, since a hair dryer or radiator will stiffen the leather. Rub in a little leather conditioner once or twice a year to keep it supple, and expect the finish to lighten in the spots you handle most.

Your questions, answered

How many characters can I have engraved?

Around 12 to 15 characters stay crisp on a single line, so a first name, a set of initials, or a date like 06.14.2024 works best. Longer text gets scaled down and becomes harder to read.

Will the leather change color over time?

Yes, and that's the point. Crazy horse leather is waxed, so it begins matte and develops a gloss and a deeper tone where you grip it. That patina is normal, and it's what makes the keychain end up looking like yours alone.
